How to Choose a Rowing Unisuit: Fit & Sizing
A comfortable unisuit starts with the right measurements. Use the illustrations below, then check the size chart for the specific style you want.
See how to measureWhere to place the tape
Use the measurements requested on your product’s size chart. Keep the tape level around your body for chest, waist and hips.
Chest / bust
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest or bust, passing under your arms and around your back. Keep your arms relaxed.
Natural waist
Measure around your natural waist, usually the narrowest part of your torso. This may sit above the waistband of your everyday trousers.
Hips
With your feet together, wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips and seat. Check that it stays level at the back.
Height
Stand barefoot against a wall and look straight ahead. Measure from the floor to the top of your head; a helper and a flat book make this easier.
Snug, not tight. Let the tape touch your body without digging in. Stand naturally, breathe normally and avoid pulling in your stomach.
Check the fit in motion
When trying on a unisuit, go beyond the standing mirror check. These simple movements help you notice pulling, restriction or shifting fabric.
Sit and reach forward
Sit on a stable seat and reach comfortably forward. Notice whether the suit pulls at your shoulders or through your torso, and whether the neckline stays in place.
Bend your knees
Try a comfortable shallow squat. Check for room through the hips and knees, and make sure the leg openings stay comfortable without digging in or riding up.
What you want to feel A close fit with comfortable breathing and freedom to reach and bend.
When to check the size or cut Shoulder straps pull strongly, the neckline gaps, leg openings dig in, or the suit restricts your movement.
Match your measurements to your style
Open the size chart on the product you are buying and check whether it uses body or garment measurements. Different cuts can fit differently. Between sizes, or unsure about torso length? Send us the style name and your measurements.
More about unisuit fit, team orders and care
A rowing unisuit combines a top and shorts in one garment. Choosing a size means checking how the whole suit fits, including your torso and legs. Start with the size chart attached to the specific product you want; the letter on your usual T-shirt is only a starting point.
Measure before choosing a size
Use a flexible measuring tape and follow the measurement instructions on the product’s chart. Take any listed chest, waist, hip and height measurements without pulling the tape tight. Check whether the chart describes body measurements or the garment itself. If you are between sizes, or your measurements point to different sizes, send us the product name and your measurements for help.
Do not assume that two different unisuit styles fit identically. Men’s and women’s cuts can differ through the torso, neckline and legs, so compare each style’s chart and photographs.
Check the fit in rowing positions
A standing mirror check is useful, but rowing involves repeated bending and reaching. When trying on a suit, check it through a comfortable squat and seated reaching position. Notice whether the shoulders pull, the neckline gaps, the fabric gathers or the leg openings feel restrictive.
- Torso: look for a close fit that allows you to reach forward without excessive pulling at the shoulders.
- Waist and hips: check for comfortable movement when sitting and bending.
- Leg openings: check that they sit comfortably and remain in place as you move.
- Coverage: look at front and back views and consider the coverage you prefer for training.
Compare the details that matter to you
Read the individual product description for fabric, cut and construction details. Check front and back photographs, available sizes and any specific care instructions. Features vary by design; a detail mentioned on one unisuit should not be assumed to apply to every style.
For a separate top-and-bottom option, explore rowing performance apparel. Rowing trou and a close-fitting training top can be useful alternatives when you prefer separates.
